Indian Rupee opens at 54.80/dollar

On Friday the Indian rupee opened slightly higher at 54.80 per dollar against the Thursday's close of 54.88.

The euro recovered some ground against the dollar and trading above 1.29 levels now. The yen meanwhile hit a three & half year low after BOJ's big stimulus announcement. The dollar index was holding above 82 levels.

Pramit Brahmbhatt, Alpari said, "The rupee weakened yesterday led by falling equity markets. It is likely to remain under pressure today as well and trade in a range of 54.70-55.20/USD."
