Sensex, on Monday, fell by 64 points and closed at 20,787, as caution prevailed ahead of financial results and key inflation data.
Among the stocks, Tata Power Company , ICICI Bank and State Bank of India were the ones which declined the most while among sector indices, IT, realty and bankex ended on a negative note. Market breadth was, however, positive with 1,454 advances against 1,058 declines.
Nifty was down by 20 points and closed at 6,191. Today we expect the markets to open on a flat to negative note on the back of weak global cues.
US markets ended on a negative note with Dow Jones and Nasdaq down by 0.3 percent each, on account of slower-than-forecast growth in service industries. Today, US markets will witness data releases on Trade Balance.
Asian markets are trading negative with Nikkei and Hang Seng down by 0.3 percent and 0.1 percent respectively. SGX Nifty is trading up by 1 point at 6,225.
Indian ADRs ended on a mixed note. Among financial ADRs, ICICI Bank was down by 1.5 percent while HDFC Bank was up by 2.1 percent. Among IT ADRs, Wipro and Infosys were down by 2.1 percent and 1.5 percent respectively. Tata Motors was down by 1.3 percent.
