Sensex, on Tuesday, fell 35 points and closed at 26,349. Despite inflation concerns easing, the markets ended in red as DLF tanked over 25 percent following SEBI's notice barring its directors from participating in the securities markets for 3 years. Among sectors, Realty fell over 9%. IT, Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Teck ended on a weak note.
Among stocks, DLF, Tata Motors, HDFC and ONGC ended in red. However, market breadth was negative with 1,648 declines against 1,277 advances.
Nifty lost 20 points and closed at 7,864. Today we expect the markets to open on a negative note following the sell-off in the global markets.
US markets ended the day on negative note. Dow Jones and Nasdaq were both down by 1.06 percent and 0.29 percent, as worries related to potential rerun of Eurozone debt crisis, deflation, and weak US economic data. US markets, today, will see data releases on Industrial Production m/m, Unemployment Claims, Philly Fed Manufacturing Index, NAHB Housing Market Index, Natural Gas Storage, Crude Oil Inventories and TIC Long-Term Purchases.
Asian markets are trading on a negative note with Nikkei down 2.23 percent and Hang Seng down 0.92 percent. SGX Nifty is trading down 72 points at 7,880. Indian ADRs ended the day on a mixed note. Among financial ADRs, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank fell 0.18 percent and 0.49 percent respectively. Among IT ADRs, Wipro gained 0.16 percent and Infosys fell 0.5 percent. Tata Motors gained 0.46 percent.
